ALBERT TORT

Secretary of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation, Government of Catalonia

Albert Tort Pugibet, PhD in Software Engineering, Master in Computing and Computer Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, is currently the Secretary of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation of the Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia.

Secretary Tort’s professional career began in academia in 2008, first linked to research and developing his thesis (2008), as a professor of Requirements Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (2009) and as a member of the Research Group on Conceptual Modeling of Information Systems at the UPC (2012). Since then, he has specialized in the areas of software engineering, digital transformation, information systems quality and artificial intelligence.

Since 2013, he has been working at the multinational technology consultancy Sogeti as a Software Control and Testing specialist and in 2019 he assumed the role of technology director of Sogeti Spain and manager of SogetiLabs until assuming his position at the head of the secretariat.

Albert Tort has a solid technological profile and experience in leadership and management in the digital field, with close ties to academia, a stage in which he has published several articles in specialized journals and conferences.

JOAN MAS

CIDAI’s Director

Joan Mas is a Telecommunications engineer (UPC) and MBA (Webster University). He worked for 10 years at the European Space Agency, the Netherlands, in the ENVISAT and METOP projects, Earth observation satellites. From 2000 to 2008 he developed at NTE S.A., equipment for the International Space Station and life support systems for manned space missions. Until 2024 he was Director of the Digital Technologies Division at Eurecat, promoting developments in areas such as Data Analytics and Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and others for multi-sector applications. He is currently Scientific Director in the digital field at Eurecat and, from 2021, he is also Director of CIDAI.

MARCO ORELLANA

CIDAI’s Manager

Industrial Engineer with a Master’s in Project Management. Global finalist of the “Intel Global Challenge” with a business plan for a new technology-based company, presented at the University of California, Berkeley, United States.

Throughout his professional career, he has been a founding partner of a technology-based company focused on software quality analysis, established in Silicon Valley, United States. Later, he collaborated with a Chilean company that promotes the use of technology in electronic transactions, performing tasks in strategic planning, management control, and project evaluation. He then moved to Barcelona to further his studies and develop his career as an International Project Manager at a technology center in Terrassa. Subsequently, he worked as a technology consultant at Eurecat, the main Technology Center of Catalonia. His role involved advising companies and public organizations on technological innovation, including identifying funding opportunities, developing business models, strategic planning, innovation workshops, and fostering business collaboration.

He is currently the Manager of CIDAI, overseeing all its lines of work and promoting the adoption of artificial intelligence within the Catalan ecosystem.
