This talk proposes a critical analysis of artificial intelligence as an instrument and expression of power in its economic, cultural and epistemic dimensions. “If AI is the answer, what was the question?” examines the questions that various social actors are asking themselves: states, technological corporations, the media, academia and citizens. Through concrete examples and theoretical contributions, the session questions the use of AI as a universal solution and reveals how different interests condition its formulation, application and legitimation. The final reflection directly questions the audience: who formulates the questions that AI aims to solve, and who assumes the costs?
