Speakers
MONICA DE MIER
CEO of Nextmol
Dr. Monica de Mier is co-founder and director of Nextmol. She has a degree in Mathematics from the Autonomous University of Madrid, a doctorate in Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from ESADE Business School. She has worked for the companies Next Limit Technologies and Abengoa in different R&D positions, and as head of business development at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Centro Nacional de Supercomputación. In 2019 she co-founded Nextmol, a deep tech startup specializing in computational chemistry to accelerate the development of new chemicals. She has received several awards and scholarships (such as the scholarship from the “la Caixa” Foundation, the Extraordinary Doctorate Award from the UPC, or the Doctorate Award from the Spanish Society of Numerical Methods in Engineering) and has been chosen as one of the reference entrepreneurial women in 2020 by El Referente. She has dedicated much of her professional career to helping organizations adopt computational techniques to accelerate their R&D.
Breaking barriers: Molecular modeling and AI for the chemical industry
The chemical industry is in a profound transformation to become more green and digital. It is forced to innovate to meet environmental regulations and consumer trends, and provide solutions to societal challenges. Current laboratory-based R&D cycles are too slow to respond to these innovation requirements. Digital technologies are here to help to gain efficiency in many industrial processes, included R&D. In this talk we will explain how do we apply molecular modeling and artificial intelligence at Nextmol to help our customers to accelerate the development of best-in-class and more sustainable specialty chemicals.
IGNACIO TAMARIT
Lead Data Scientist of Clarity AI
Ignacio Tamarit holds a degree in Classical Guitar from Musikene, a bachelor’s degree in Theoretical Physics from UCM, and a Ph.D. in Mathematical Engineering from UC3M. For over a decade, he has applied his expertise in modeling complex systems in diverse areas such as experimental economics, social networks, and the sustainability sector.
Currently, Ignacio serves as a Lead Data Scientist at Clarity AI, where he has been working since 2020. His role focuses on developing machine learning models for estimating environmental metrics, anomaly detection, and value chain analysis.
Data Science @ClarityAI: Efficiently filling the information gap
Clarity AI is a leading tech platform for measuring the social and environmental impact of investments and organizations. Powered by machine learning, Clarity AI has built the most comprehensive and customizable solution to assess corporate sustainability, combining the highest quality data and algorithms with science-based scores and sophisticated tools for all sustainability frameworks, including ESG risk, UN sustainable development goals, net-zero, and regulation.
The data science team at Clarity AI leverage state-of-the art language models, machine learning algorithms and anomaly detection systems to provide the best and most comprehensive Environmental, Social, and Governance datasets to their customers. In this talk we will show some of the use cases in which these technologies help us deal with the information gap in the sustainability sector.
ALBERT IRUELA
Founder of Omnios
Albert Iruela, graduated in Engineering in ICT Organization (La Salle). Co-Founder of the company Omnios. Experience in technology consulting and participation in entrepreneurship programs (Imagine Silicon Valley, MarkeTic…)
Optimizing decision making in the market: The synergy between Artificial Intelligence and Market Intelligence
This presentation will explore how the combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Market Intelligence can improve strategic decision in the business environment. Use cases such as market data analysis, surveillance automation, and information personalization will be discussed, highlighting the benefits of this synergy for competitive advantage.
MARÍA EUGENIA RODRÍGUEZ
Medical AI Expert of Mediktor
Maria Eugenia Rodriguez is a general physician with experience in various medical specialties. As an Assistant Doctor in General Surgery and Oncological Surgery in Lyon, France, she gained knowledge in surgical procedures and oncological treatments. She also worked as an Assistant Doctor in Emergency Departments in Argentina, where she attended to patients with various acute medical conditions and emergencies. Currently, she is working at Mediktor as Medical AI Expert, where she contributes her medical expertise to ensure precision and safety in healthcare technology.
Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare: Optimization of resources and improvement of the patient experience
Mediktor is the most advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-based medical assistant for triage and pre-diagnosis. Our main objective is to direct people to the appropriate level of care at the right time, optimizing resources and reducing waiting times.
In this presentation, I will delve into how Mediktor, as an Artificial Intelligence tool, supports both healthcare professionals and patients. I will present success stories that illustrate how Mediktor is transforming healthcare and improving people’s quality of life.
ALAN FUSTÉ
CEO of Adaptical
Alan Fusté is a Computer Engineer and Telecommunications Engineer from the UAB.
He has more than 6 years of experience developing and executing projects in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.
Before founding Adaptical, he led teams specialised in AI in projects for organisations such as Volkswagen, Idencity or the Generalitat de Catalunya.
He is currently CEO of Adaptical, an EdTech startup specialised in applying AI to education. They adapt teaching and learning to the needs of teachers and students, creating personalised learning experiences to free up teachers’ time and improve students’ learning process.
Teaching and learning in the age of AI
Current education has been under fire for decades for failing to adapt to the realities of the 21st century. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged in this debate with the promise of solving the many problems of today’s education system. It is not just a matter of applying AI, the most important thing is how and why it is done.
ANNA BRUGUÉS
User Experience Manager at Nuclia
Anna Brugués, with more than fifteen years of experience in the world of design, communication and usability, joined the software industry linked to artificial intelligence more than four years ago. Specialized in the development of effective visual communication through user experience, innovation, trends and the good use of graphic elements, she is responsible for usability and user interfaces at Nuclia, a startup which has delivered semantic search and generative AI on unstructured data, transforming the organizations that access its knowledge.
Why should companies care about fine-tuning their language model?
Is it important to fine-tune the language model for companies? As natural language processing technology becomes more advanced, it is essential for companies to adapt their language model to improve the efficiency and accuracy of their artificial intelligence systems.
