5 Five keys to the AI & Big Data Barcelona Artificial Intelligence Congress

The AI & Big Data Congress is the business sector’s congress on artificial intelligence and Big Data. It is organised by CIDAI and the Eurecat technology centre as part of the Artificial Intelligence Strategy of Catalonia, Catalonia.AI, which will celebrate its 9th edition this year on 27 and 28 September in the AXA Barcelona Auditorium. The event will be held in a face-to-face format. It has opened registration to attend and has already published the programme. Below, we present the five keys to the congress:In this edition, we will analyse the limits of that generative artificial intelligence can have from a technological, ethical and legal perspective. This is especially the case with regard to intellectual property in the value chain.Therefore, the artificial intelligence congress will focus on AI application strategies. As a result, we will look at the examples of start-up and scale-up initiatives with business models in which these technologies stand out. Below, we present the five keys to the congress:

 

1. AI company success stories

 

As in previous editions, the congress will dedicate the central space to presenting outstanding business initiatives. In short, different cases of leading start-ups and scale-ups in the use of artificial intelligence. In addition, these initiatives have been selected by its programme committee as part of its annual call for participation.

 

2. Generative artificial intelligence: the emergence of ChatGPT and more new developments

 

Generative AI will have a prominent role in the congress. We will explore its technological foundation and discuss its impact. According to Joan Mas, the director of CIDAI and director of the Digital Department at EurecatThe appearance of generative AI, exemplified by the famous ChatGPT, has put AI at the centre of discuss for good. We will especially study its ethical and regulatory implications, focusing on generative AI. There will also be a session dedicated to the explicability of AI. This is an increasingly necessary feature for the reliability of applications based on this technology.

 

4. Over 45 top speakers at the artificial intelligence congress

 

Kicked off by the opening speech of the AI & Big Data Congress, keynote speaker Inma Martínez, an international expert in digital technologies and AI and the chair and member of several advisory boards, including the Global Partnership on AI, an OECD agency and the G7, and the Secretary of State for Digitisation and Artificial Intelligence. Her talk will analyse why AI is important today. Aspects such as reasonable AI, data governance, the future of work, the innovation, and the marketing of AI in business and industry will be considered.

During the two days, several speakers will take the stage at the AXA Barcelona Auditorium. They will talk about AI success stories and experiences, but above all they will discuss and reflect on how the emergence of AI is changing many business models.

In this sense, the congress will enjoy the participation of representatives of companies, research centres and leading AI institutions. We highlight the participation of the promoting organisations that will detail their initiatives: Generalitat de Catalunya, CaixaBank Tech, Huawei, Microsoft, NTT DATA, SAP, M47 Labs, Tokiota, Barcelona City Council, BSC, CVC, the i2CAT Foundation and UPC-IDEAI.

 

5. Cybersecurity: how to protect digital assets

 

Finally, AI and Big Data also reserves a space to present examples of the confluence between artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. These initiatives will illustrate how AI can be used to improve the protection of digital asserts companies, institutions and the general public, as well as presenting several diverse cases of use that show an increasingly ubiquitous AI.
